 Investment Opportunities in Turkey
Mr. Berton Chiu, Director of Department of Investment Services, MOEA, and Mr. Burak Gursel, Representative of Turkish Trade Office in Taipei made their opening remarks in the beginning. Then Mr. Ismail Bitirim, Project Director of Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey, and Dr. Hasan S. K. Peng, Department Chair of Turkish Language and Culture, National Taiwan University made presentations on business and investment opportunities in Turkey. Mr. Bitirim listed the most attractive aspects of investing in Turkey as below: * A population of 70 million people * 65 percent below 34 years old, average age 28.3 * Appx. 400,000 university graduates per year * Young, well educated and motivated professionals * Highly competitive investment conditions * Fast access to the EU, Central Asia and the Middle East * Between 2002 and 2007: - GDP increased 187% reaching 663 billion USD - Annual average real GDP growth of appx. 7% - Exports increased 197% and reached 107 billion USD in 2007 - 15th among the most attractive FDI countries with its FDI worth 20.2 billion USD in 2006 (UNCTAD) -Turkey confirmed its excellent result in attracting FDI with 22 billion USD in 2007 For more information on investing in Turkey please refer to the official website of Investment Support and Promotion agency of Turkey www.invest.gov.tr .
